Voorhees A South Jersey Town

Voorhees never had a downtown section where residents and visitors could go to eat, shop and play.  The town was made up of several small sections with no central gathering area.  Over the last few years, Voorhees has been working to solve that issue by creating the Voorhees Town Center.  It is quickly becoming the downtown that Voorhees never had.  It is a place where people can gather to see parades, shop, eat, drink and attend festivals.

The town center may not be a historical downtown area like what you would find in Collingswood or Haddonfield, but it is getting people’s attention.  Last year is was home to several events.  The weekly Farmers Market, the annual holiday parade, a carnival and Italian festival were all held in the town center and were all very popular events. These kinds of events attract hundreds of people each year and having the town center as a place to have these kinds of events is helping them gain popularity.
Voorhees has also been developing the area around Route 73. The area has become the “medical mile”. It started with the Virtua Medical Campus, a half a billion dollar project that has become an economic magnet and has attracted other medical facilities.  There are medical offices, a rehab facility, senior care, a pharmacy and a new hotel.
Voorhees has had a lot of economic development but the town draws individuals and families to live there because of its uniqueness.  It is a suburban area with a wonderful location.  It is 15 minutes from Center City Philadelphia, 50 minutes from the Shore, 90 minutes from New York City and about two hours from Washington, D.C.
